The environment and climate change are issues that The O3 Network take very seriously. In order to empower Australian businesses, we have to take responsibility for the environment and the impact that our dealings have on the future.

The Department of Regional Development for Australia was one of the first Government departments to recognize the O3 Network's climate change benefits. They applauded the concept of utilizing current business capacities, therefore reducing the need for new infrastructure, this is a concept that the O3 team have embraced & proudly expanded on.

While crusading to provide accessible meeting, training and work space Australia-wide, we are only too aware that by utilizing the O3 Network businesses are actively reducing their carbon footprint.  More & more businesses frequently make O3 Network bookings instead of committing to lengthy lease arrangements for a premise that would only be utilized occasionally.  Thus, businesses are only paying for what they use and through collaboration of resources we are uniting business facilities, reducing overhead costs and pioneering a greener future for all business.

Interesting Fact: In early 2012 the O3 headquarters was destroyed in a flood, it was only due to cloud computing for all of its business systems that the entire O3 Network didn't collapse. 

The O3 Network plan to add the opportunity to offset your carbon through our online booking system. This will voluntarily offset the carbon used at your meeting, with the added option if offsetting your fuel emissions to and from your meeting.

The first step to be taken is to have a carbon audit carried out on your business, it lists all your waste, staff members, recycling, air conditioning, heating, even the refrigerators in your office kitchen!    Carbon Offsetting
A carbon offset is a reduction in emissions of carbon or greenhouse gases made in order to compensate for or to offset an emission made elsewhere. Carbon offsets are measured in metric tons of carbon dioxide-equivalent (CO2e) and may represent six primary categories of greenhouse gases. One carbon offset represents the reduction of one metric ton of carbon dioxide or its equivalent in other greenhouse gases.
There are two markets for carbon offsets. In the larger, compliance market, companies, governments, or other entities buy carbon offsets in order to comply with caps on the total amount of carbon dioxide they are allowed to emit. In 2006, about $5.5 billion of carbon offsets were purchased in the compliance market, representing about 1.6 billion metric tons of CO2e reductions.
In the much smaller, voluntary market, individuals, companies, or governments purchase carbon offsets to mitigate their own greenhouse gas emissions from transportation, electricity use, and other sources. For example, an individual might purchase carbon offsets to compensate for the greenhouse gas emissions caused by personal air travel. Many companies  offer carbon offsets as an up-sell during the sales process so that customers can mitigate the emissions related with their product or service purchase (such as offsetting emissions related to a vacation flight, car rental, hotel stay, consumer good, etc.). In 2008, about $705 million of carbon offsets were purchased in the voluntary market, representing about 123.4 million metric tons of CO2e reductions.
